Maranhão on the Screen
Maranhão on the Screen is a social-cultural project to stimulate Maranhense audiovisual productions, which has been in existence since 2007 and differentiates itself by offering free courses and workshops for training, production and publicity, encouraging the emergence of new regional talent.
The project aims to establish Maranhão as an important pole for audiovisual production, through mobilizing social networks and partnerships with individuals and communities.
PERIOD OF REALIZATION OF THE ENTIRE PROJECT: August 17 to December 6, 2009
PLACES WHERE THE FESTIVAL WILL BE HELD: São Luís do Maranhão
NUMBER OF SESSIONS: more than 65
AVERAGE PUBLIC FORECAST PER SESSION: 100 people
WORKSHOPS HELD: This is my Culture II (October 19-30, 2009)
AVERAGE NUMBER OF STUDENTS PER WORKSHOP: 30 young people from rural Maranhão
NUMBER OF FILMS PRODUCED THROUGH THE WORKSHOP: 10 mini-documentaries on great masters of Maranhense culture.
COURSES HELD: - Production Management and Cinematographic Language (August 17-28, 2009) – Teachers: Antonio Leal and Maria Camargo - Theory and History of Cinema (October 16 to October 20, 2009) – Teacher: Tadeu Capistrano.
