Ecological Minitheatre Giramundo

A miniature world of fantasies. Thus is the Giramundo, created almost 40 years ago in Belo Horizonte (MG), with over 33 different shows presented throughout Brazil.

The Giramundo Ecological mini theatre project was designed to perform roaming presentations in São Luís (MA) and surrounding region, prioritizing access from the communities surrounding MPX’s business, our energy company. In a light-hearted way, with magic and fun, the project focuses on environmental education for children and young people, and has presented shows on the Amazon, the Cerrado (tropical savannah),  and the Nature Apprentice, from the Biomas of Brazil series.

The performances were held in local schools and community areas, especially in the Itaqui-Bacanga area and also in public places, such as squares and parks.

In addition to presentations, the project has developed technical workshops for doll-building resulting in a great final exhibition in São Luiz. To keep alive the proposed environmental education work, the project will leave 200 educational DVD’s to be used in school work in Public Schools, Libraries and other Institutions of Higher Education in the region where the project was carried out.
