In the management of our businesses, the EBX Group adheres to the most rigorous sustainability standards. In addition to meeting legal requirements in the implementation of property development, our investments in the sector demonstrate our commitment to environmental preservation and human dignity.

Our projects promote transformation and development in the infrastructure and logistics sectors, but also suggest a new model for the relationship of businesses with their surroundings, with the regions and countries in which they operate.

We support the conservation of 800,000 hectares (1,976,843 acres) of land in Brazil and invest in conservation activities in Chile and Colombia -- countries where we have infrastructure and mining projects. We go beyond the socio-environmental compensation requirements of the law because we believe that respect, dialogue with surrounding communities and environmental balance are essential to the success of our activities.

Sustainability is woven into the DNA of our Group. A project is only considered viable if it can behave as a good citizen, be a friend of the environment and promote development.

Our experience shows that it is possible to undertake combining financial returns to shareholders, while creating better working conditions for our employees, as well as social, cultural, economic and environmental development.

Our Sustainability Plan includes activities focused on five strategic themes, which are carefully adhered to by our Group companies:

  • • To attract, develop and retain professionals, investing in programs that balance compensation, professional growth and personal satisfaction of the employees;

    • To offer working conditions in accordance with the best quality standards for employees and workers from third-party contractors;

    • To invest in professional training of residents from the communities that neighbor our operations.

  • • To use the market's best management technologies and practices, seeking efficiencies and the rational use of natural resources;

    • To efficiently manage solid waste, and liquid and gaseous effluents;

    • To evaluate potential socio-economic transformations caused by our projects; to reduce the negative impacts and maximize the positive ones; establishing channels of communication and engagement with neighboring communities; developing social investments that make regional opportunities possible; and make the hiring of local manpower possible;

    • To protect the safety and health of employees, partners, outsourced workers and neighboring communities.

  • • To adopt ethical business practices, assuring transparency in our relations and accountability with stakeholders, such as investors, employees, neighboring communities, governments, the press, teaching institutions and civil society organizations.

  • • To manage the impacts our operations have on biodiversity and ecosystems, adopting the best practices for their protection and maintenance;

    • To contribute in a voluntary manner to protect and conserve ecosystems and biodiversity in priority areas of proven importance to Brazil and the world.

  • • To work towards local development, in partnership with stakeholders, such as adopting and disseminating management practices and territory governance based on awareness of the dilemmas of development, which incorporate social, environmental, economic and cultural underpinnings; encourage the strengthening of local institutional capacities; define the roles and responsibilities of each social actor in the territory; and earmark social investments that contribute to sustainable development.
